Whether you look at the Bible as an interesting foundation of our cultural-historical heritage or as a valued storybook, it doesn't matter. Maybe you hope reading it will bring back some precious memories from your childhood, or maybe you hope to discover the deeper layers of life and get answers to questions that arise within you.

Your motivation for joining doesn’t matter!

Maybe you're thinking: reading the Bible sounds interesting, but why would I want to do it in one year? A 1200-something-page book, I think I’d like to take my time with that.

Reading at your leisure is totally fine, of course, and if it works for you, absolutely continue doing it your way.

Others have had the following experiences:

  • “After a brave start in the first few books, I got stuck in genealogies (lineage trees); that was really boring!”
  • “I just can’t seem to be able to keep it going on my own.”
  • “If I manage to keep it up at all, I’m missing the bigger picture, the coherence; for example, what is the order of the stories in all those books?”

Bible in 1 Year was designed in response to these experiences. Over three quarters - one academic year - we read the Bible, following a carefully curated reading program and getting together on a weekly basis to help you persevere.

Not only are the meetings of a Bi1y group a lot of fun, they’re also a place where you can ask all your questions, have discussions about the texts you have read and get more background information through videos or speakers.

Reading the Bible together with friends

If you'd like to, you can start a Bible in 1 year group with friends, and use the format in any way you see fit. You just decide when and where you get together and how you want to structure the meeting and go from there.

Starting your own group

If you're starting your own group, please let us know via this contact form so that we can add your project to the list, with you as the contact person, enabling anyone who’s interested to contact you about joining.

Whatever you choose, by reading the Bible together, you will discover a lot more than on your own!
